8Mile Christian Camp
Nestled among the fields and rural farmland in Tippecanoe County, campers and retreat goers can experience the peace and quiet of rural rustic living with the convenience and nearness of urban life and shopping. For more than two decades students, community members, and families have gathered on the grounds for summer camps, retreats, family reunions, camp meetings and outdoor activities.
The camp is owned and operated by the Indiana District Pentecostal Church of God and is available for rental throughout the calendar year. 8Mile is also the home to the Indiana District Youth Ministries Summer Camp program throughout the month of July. Their 2010 season has just ended and 2011 Summer Camp program information will be made availalbe in January of 2011.
Indoor Facilities
The retreat center features two separate dormitories with attached lavatories on the upper level, and a Dining Hall, Catering Kichen and Rec Hall on the lower level.
Each dormitory houses top quality rustic wooden bunk beds, closet and wardrobe space, and a window overlooking the campgrounds. The Westside dorm also features a hand crafted wood porch where lodgers can watch the sun set in the western sky. The Lavatories consist of 4 - 5 private bathroom stalls, a vanity, 3 private showers, and plenty of handwashing sink space.
The Dining hall can be setup to house a small group of 10 - 20 people or up to 100 by arranging the tables and chairs that are provided at the retreat center. The catering kitchen houses an industrial sized stove, freezer, refrigerator, dishwashing sink, stainless steel counter tops, and plenty of pantry space for food storage and preparation.
Outdoor Facilities
The camp grounds offer plenty of space for outdoor sports, activities and games. A baseball diamond, sand volleyball court, and basketball court provide the perfect opportunity for group games, tournaments and team building fun.
A recently installed fire pit also provides the perfect atmosphere in the evening for a group cook out or campfire gathering. The intramural field on the grounds also lends plenty of space for a wedding celebration, party, or any type of outdoors activity. The district's youth ministry program also has a paintball course available for use at specific rental rates.
